This page is for the Dark-Eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis ). This species is very common nearly everywhere I look for birds. The June 6, 2010 photo (above) is my first photographic evidence of this bird and was taken at Mt. Rainier, Washington. Currently the best photograph I have taken of the Dark-Eyed Junco to date (above) was taken on January 8, 2022 as he was sitting below one of our backyard feeders, capitalizing on the feed that had fallen out of the feeder as other birds are above. This species is frequently in the trees at our neighborhood park and our yard, and they seem to like to be on the ground feasting on the seed kicked out of our feeders by other birds.
The following photographs are the best representative images from different dates and locations than my species representative example.
