This page is for the Western Kingbird (Butorides virescens). My first photographic evidence occurred on May 8, 2022 at the Colleyville Nature Center. At first I thought that it was a Great-crested Flycatcher as I had been seeing them around. However, the ever wise Merlin app said Western Kingbird. Since Merlin is only usually correct, I did a bit more of a comparison of my photos to pictures of both birds. Upon closer inspection, I think Merlin was correct. If someone else can demonstrate to me why it is a different species, I welcome the feedback.
