Canada Goose - Dr. Dude Photography

This page is for the Canada Goose (Branta canadensis). This species is common and frequently found at locations some of which are more domestic in nature. The October 5, 2012 photo is my first photographic evidence of this bird. The best photograph I have taken of the Canada Goose to date (above) was from October 30, 2021 at the Fort Worth Nature Preserve, Fort Worth, TX. I noticed the geese swimming about 300 yards to the east while I was focusing in on a different bird that was just over 100 yards away. I was using a 2.0 teleconverter with my lens when I noticed the geese and started taking some pictures of the them. While shooting, they took flight. The teleconverter is not great for flying birds (I will make a blog post on this later) and I thought I lost my chance to get better photos as they flew by at less than 50 yards. About the time I removed the teleconverter and reattached my lens, the geese turned nearly 180 degrees and flew back by me and I was able to make the shot.
