This page is for the Western Flycatcher (Empidonax difficilis). When I took this photograph, this was the Pacific-Slope Flycatcher. The main people for bird naming decided that the Pacific-Slope Flycatcher and the Cordilleran Flycatcher are actually the same bird, so they combined these species into the one Western Flycatcher. This is one of the 17 or 18 new species (I’m still trying to figure one out) for me when I went on a San Diego Audubon bird walk while I was in the area for a conference. My first photographic evidence occurred on April 23, 2022.
