This page is for the Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas). My first encounter with this species was on a bird walk in San Diego. I did not see it so I was not able to get a picture, but it was on my eBird list as I was part of that walk. I was very excited to be able to add a photo to the bird as the male (above) was flitting about the vegetation. I was still early and just after sunrise, but all the factors converged for just a moment and I was able to capture him. An hour or so later when I was deeper into the wildlife refuge, a female flitting about the vegetation along my path. She never was fully exposed and still enough to get a picture, but I was able to capture on of her mostly visible in the brush.
