This page is for the Crested Caracara (Caracara plancus). My first photographic evidence occurred on January 15, 2022 at the Forth Worth Nature Preserve, Fort Worth, TX. I used to see these birds fairly frequently when we were outside of town a bit when living in Laredo, TX. They are quite common in south Texas. However, I never took a photograph as I was usually driving by at a high rate of speed (what ever the speed limit was and not a bit over). I was very happy when I saw this one at quite a distance away (probably 250-300 yards). I was even happier when I got the close-up shot above. I think it is a great shot considering I was on a bus shooting through tinted windows.
