This page is for the Red-whiskered Bulbul (Pycnonotus jocosus). I had been hearing this bird frequently during our visit to Oahu, but I could never get a shot of it. I saw this pair deep in the trees at a state park so I took close to 40 shots of it. With all the plant material between the bird and the camera, the focus kept locking on to the tree parts leaving the birds very blurry. This photograph, although not great, is the only shot where you could identify the species. I feel very lucky to have been able to get this one as I thought I would leave Hawaii without shooting this species.
