This page is for the Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea). I first saw this species on one of the trails at the Nature Preserve. They kept bouncing around the tree tops either behind cover or not in the open long enough to get a shot. While I was watching them, I heard a small group of hikers on the trail from a distance talking very LOUDLY. I finally had two warblers on a limb in the open and just as the autofocus locked in, the hikers rounded a corner while still talking very loudly. As I pressed the shutter, I got an empty branch. One of them said they hoped they didn’t ruin my shot (which they did). It is good to see people out in nature, so I can’t complain too much (I just wish there was more of an appreciation for the sounds of nature, but I guess we can’t have it all). Fortunately, the next weekend I was able to spot them in a different area and capture the shot, so all is good.
