This page is for the Sora (Melospiza melodia). My first photographic evidence occurred on December 30, 2021 at the Fort Worth Nature Preserve, Fort Worth, TX. I was talking to another birder as my time in the field was coming to a close for the day, and we kept hearing something near the water’s edge, so we climbed on the rocks that separate the trail from the water and saw this little guy just hanging out. He posed for us for quite a while before swimming into the reeds. Neither of us knew what the bird was. I looked it up when I got home and found out it was a Sora, which I did not know existed until that moment. It was a wonderful discovery!
