This page is for the Ladder-backed Woodpecker (Dryobates scalaris). I used to see these a lot in Kentucky but never got a shot of one. I have heard them in Texas but never was even able to see the bird until this one. He kept his back to me (showing off the ladder I guess), but I was happy to get the shot.
