This page is for the Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicicollis). I saw this guy on the boardwalk as I was shooting Red-winged Blackbird males strutting for the females, so I took a few shots of it. At first I thought it was a Blue Dasher that I previously photographed at Mineral Wells State Park. However, there were some subtle differences that identified it as an Eastern Pondhawk, primarily the white claspers at the tip of its abdomen.
