Winter Wren

Winter Wren perched on the tip of a broken vine with thorns. There are other thorny vines behind it.

This page is for the Winter Wren (Troglodytes hiemalis). I had been seeing others post this species on the Web and I had been hearing it from time-to-time in the woods. Finally, this secretive and tiny bird stopped long enough for me to get a shot. It stayed pretty deep in the brush so there is still a vine in front of it (thus the blurry back half of its body), but I was happy to finally get a shot of one.
