Bananaquit

Bananaquit in the canopy of a tree on the beach. Its yellow colors help it blend in with the branches of the palm tree.

This page is for the Bananaquit (Coereba flaveola). I recently found this bird in a photograph of the trees on Isle Verde Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico that we used for shade while on the beach. Over fifteen years later I finally spot this bird (actually I think I saw the bird and took the picture, then completely forgot about it until 2023).

Bananaquit perched on a mossy branch almost directly above the camera.
