Summer Tanager

This page is for the Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra). I had not seen one of these in many years, and did not have a photograph of one. I saw my first one (with a camera) while trying to track down a Northern Parula (heard but never did see it) and she stayed still long enough for me to grab a couple of photos. I went out a few days later and saw a male (bright red) fly by at warp 6, so I didn’t get a shot. Finally, almost three years later, I managed to get a few shots of a male, which is now the first photo above.
